Her møtte vi noen nye venner.

Sikkert tre meter ned. Her telte jeg reker. 5 stykker. Pappa fant seks.

The kids spent a little time in the pool!!

This place ended up being an incredible nice place to stay. Not because we did so much here, but because of all the people here. They gave us some fantastic weeks. We booked in advace two weeks, and ended up staying four. The owners Tim and Zoe have made the place into something unique yet familiar. Everybody eating at a big table in the evening. Not to mention the fantastic and friendly staff and of course the great diving. Our children almost moved in at Tim and Zoe´s house, where they had a great time with their children and several other children of the staff. Their english also improved during this stay.
Tim’s parents will also have a great deal of the credit for our wonderful stay here. Al and Dharlene wished us all welcome every morning. Had freshly brewed ‘real’ coffee in the pot, and we always had something to talk about with them. We had some really fun trips with them – La Fiesta ride in a Jeep that suddenly had no headlights, we won’t forget this trip so easy 😉

Everybody celebrated Halloween

Everybody celebrated Halloween

The kids got to celebrate Halloween with pumpkin carving, trick or treat and a Halloween movie. I got chocolate cake and a song (Thanks Dharlene) for my birthday. We got to be a part of Liquid´s 1 year celebration. A whole pig were grilled, live band and a lot of guests. Everybody celebrating together. Erling got (Had) to do his snorkel test – a tradition we will transfer to Norway for sure. Beer Jenga is also a game we had a lot of fun with. This will be our vor-spiel tradition when we get home. :-)

The morning view is Great!

The morning view is Great!

The day of departure always come to soon. Luckily we are coming back for new years eve!! So the farewell wasn’t so bad as it would have been, or will be the next time… We were also so lucky to be able to leave some luggage that we won’t need until we come back. (Thank you). It looks like sending luggage home is quite expensive, even though Erling snus only took 5 days to arrive from Sweden(and were not that expensive I hope:-) ).
Thank´s to all of you at Liquid – See you in about six to seven weeks.

A happy birthday to Dad!

So we left Moalboal and it was time for Erling´s instructor exam, and at the same time the autumn holiday was over for us. It was in essence fine with a few days in Cebu / Mactan, urban shopping malls where we found a birthdaygift to Erling (Spanish wine!) Cake, and balloons. They also had good bakeries, play area, arcade, Pizza Hut and other things we don’t see very often :)
After three intense days for Erling. It was finally over. PASSED! And on his birthday :) It was steak and red wine for dinner, birthday crown and sang in the lobby of the hotel, cake with candles in the room as it should be.

Malapascua

Threshershark

Threshershark

Then finally we were ready for Malapascua, where the Threshershark were waiting. An island with crystal clear water, nice beaches and a lot of nice people.
We stayed at Evolution Divers. They are located right at the Bounty beach. Our bungalow even had a hammock right outside, witch Erling and I managed to destroy one night we were in a romantic state. We both went in the hammock and of course it broke and we were laying on the ground to everybody’s amusement. We all laughed well. Then we sneaked of to sit down on the beach and finish our wine.
Us adults got to see a lot of exiting things here, and thanks to our super duper children we got two dives together at Gato Island. There we got to see the white tip shark. The kids got to snorkel and jump from the dive boat. We all came back in the afternoon very tired.
Blgupdating in the hammock is nice

Blgupdating in the hammock is nice

The last night we got to test the shots in the bar together with the other guests and employes we had gotten to know during our stay. We also managed to finish the good wine Erling got on his birthday. Chillishot and Limeshots is highly recommended. :-) The morning after was not as fun. We were leaving and had an 8 hours trip in front of us. We were heading for Liquid Dumaguete on Negros.

quote openA long time, but yet quote closevery short… It’s a phrase that keeps popping up in my head. We arrived at the resort after a two hour drive + a looong half hour at Tesco Lotus (Thailand’s Coop Obs) where we could burn 800 Norwegian kroner!! But then we had quite a few breakfasts, lunch, dinners and Saturday candy for a while :) After having “installed” us in our large bungalow (153 sq m) with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was almost like being at home – We had the cartoon channel, kitchen, washing machine etc.. But it was lovely to stay that way after a few hectic weeks on the road and pretty spartanious. We spent the first day to become more familiar in the area, found the pool, fitness room (it was actually here a lot of us spent the next weeks) and the nice lady who did the massage, which was frequently used :)
The pool was used a lot during the schoolbreaks

The pool was used a lot during the schoolbreaks

Odin restaurant on site was closed unfortunately, but Norwegian food was easy to find anyway – Lille Trondheim was the children’s favorite because of its “Norwegian” taco! And Hoff’s burger is Leanders 1st choice. Both resturants bring food or come and get you and take you back for free.
The kids finally got a pool again (almost TWO! Weeks without pool) Here they got to know some Norwegian guys who unfortunately traveled home again a few days after we arrived: (

Otherwise, we spent the first week here to get started with schoolwork, but when the weekend came, it was time to do something.
The park Nong Nooch Garden is a botanical garden with lots of beautiful plants and flowers, but you can also feed the fish, ride the elephants, and pet the tigers :)) The kids were very happy, even though we adults are not so enthusiastic about animals in captivity and “exhibition”.

Saturday afternoon we got a visit from Mandal – really nice! Bjorn and his wife Apple took us on a drive the next day so we got to see a lot of the attractions and the area in and around Jomtien and Bang Sarey.

Dolphinpark

Dolphinpark

The following week was the reward for being good pupils, and we went to the Dolphin Park, which also became a huge success for kids.

We finally came around and got us a ride to the nearest beach, where we finally got some sand between your toes and salt water in your hair. The beach we were being widely used by Thais themselves, and it seems that we are very interesting, because they would like to have pictures of us – and youngest Leander getting pretty tired of being so popular – all to shake him by the hair and talk to him everywhere we’ve been so far.

Then it was suddenly time for Junes mom to visit :) It was at the height of Christmas Eve, her bringing liver pate, salami, Norwegian chocolate, SNUS to “father” and especially “tuti” to Leander – his vanished lion appeared in the “new “but identical version thanks family Støle-Haven, who tracked him on Jesperhus in Denmark, where he originally came from.

Ten days passed quickly, we managed to swim, let the fish clean our feet, visit Floating Market, shop silk, wool and lots of other things. The couple Tønnessen snuck out to dinner alone one evening at Ali Baba in Pattaya we ate so much good Indian food that we could hardly walk out of there …
But we still took a curious strip through Walking street and it was a strange and at times laughing experience. Was a lot of things on the “menu” there.

So farewell day progressed, the eldest girl had to go home to school and Bjorg were following her. Never fun to say goodbye, and it is weird to go on without her. There were some late nights for the two little ones who suddenly realized that her sister had left home. They have had a great time together. We had two wonderful months with many nice experiences :)

Jomtien -The Gallery Condomium

Flott utsikt fra bassenget på taket!

Flott utsikt fra bassenget på taket!

Then came the school day for us, and training days for Erling. This week we have worked well with school, tested the new pool, this time on the roof with a nice view. On Wednesday we went to the Norwegian Seamens Church Abroad to buy liver pate, eat a Norwegian waffle or two, and not least, be with them to visit Baan Jing Jai – a nearby orphanage that they visit every week. I had read something about the children’s home and talked to the kids about this in advance, and we were probably a little excited all of us at how this was. But it was at least very good to have been there, the kids were playing around a bit on the playground with the kids there, which despite the miserable conditions look cheerful and happy faces (I guess they are among the lucky ones in the area, as opposed to those who trudge the streets still) they are working diligently to raise money for the new house – if you want to know more about it check

Barnene på Ban Jing Jai

Barnene på Ban Jing Jai

The last days in Jomtien, I felt the urge to get “out in the countryside” again. We like us best in the water, without too much cars and bustle. Although it has its advantages being here in terms of getting traded all sorts of western stuff and Scandinavian food, nice apartment, amusement parks etc. so is probably still “backpacker” life more charming for us, the kids also agree, except from the lack of a pool. (but it mostly resolve itself if you pay some money)

Last days we also checked out a small water park in Jomtien, waterslides are always fun :) Erling passed the examination with flying colors, and we did stop at one last waffle at the Seamen’s Church before we were to leave. Since we will be back to Jomtien about three months we borrowed some books and movies too. Then there was the packing again, reasonably heavy, 15 +15 +20 +30 + in checked baggage overweight in buckets on hand luggage, but got through this time too! Amazing how far you are going to get beeing polite and smiling Norwegians :) in addition to two blonde blue-eyed children are certainly very exciting. One of the employees cebu pacific boys at the airport would like to talk to them and know how old they were, names, etc. Philippines next!

Thailand

After Malaysia, we traveled through several cities by bus and cross the border to Thaialnd, where it had been someone who had mistaken us for Russians and other stressful things, until we finally came to Pattaya. There are several resturants owned by Norwegians, but the food there is not much to brag about since it is thai women who create everything. There are also a few different parks, Elephant / Tiger Park, where there is a whole lot of elephants and just one tiger. The elephants may include riding around on threewheelbike or painting pictures (which is pretty good for an elephant). You can also get some pictures with the tiger if you want to. Another park we went to was the Dolphin Park.

You dont have to just look at the typical dolphin show, you can also swim with and feed the dolphins, which is really a cool experience.

Other things that might be interesting to see here is Silver Lake, a vineyard owned by Thai ex-actor, Supansa Nuangphirom. The visitors can find a wonderful view here such as the colorful flowers, Khao Chi Chan as wallpaper, sunset by the sea, and so on. Activities and grape-made products are also becoming more attractive to visitors.

For those who like to get up early, you can watch the fishermen coming in with their catch, but then one must be out before 7 in the morning.

Snorkeling or diving can also be experienced. Adventure Divers Pattaya organizes boat trip to the islands around the city, where you can snorkel or dive, which is very cozy on a nice day. The food they serve is also very good. Then you can also see the city from a different point of view and can see how the city really is.

If you want to go to the beach you have to go to a special one for tourists. The locals has their own beach so that tourists won’t take up all the space.

To get around the city you can take small buses or tuk-tuk as they are called. This is the cheapest mode of transport if you only manage to take right tuk-tuk so you do not end up in completely different places than where you were planning to go. This way, you get to see lots of Pattaya and at the same time get to try something new.

It has been very nice traveling through Asia in the recent months. One gets seen a lot and experienced things that no one else can.

Pulau Perhantian Besar

Early in the morning after travelling several hours on a bus, we had to take a boat out to the Perhentian islands, still in Malaysia. The island was actually very nice, it was hot with beautiful beaches and you could get breakfast which consisted of pancakes. Yummy!. Even better was that the dive center was two minutes away, so I of course had to have me some dives here too.

Clown fish protecting their territory. If you get to close to the anemone they bite.

It was not even close to being as beautiful underwater as it was in Amed, and the visibility could have been better. But it was still pretty good. Had a dive at Tiger Rock, a reef made of stones. There are plenty of fish there and a reef full of small critters. There were particularly many anemones with clownfish. The next day I had a wreck dive, and the day after there again a night dive, but they were not very good. This island was really a very wonderful island to be on. It was a quiet atmosphere and a great variety of wildlife if you only look around. Especially common was the bats that flies around at night, but there were also monkeys and flyingdogsfl in the trees. They did not come into the houses, but were sitting peacefully in their trees or jumping around in the forest edge.
